POPLab Rumi Poetry Party

Rumi Poetry Party—Saturday, August 15 7-9pm

FREE – Come enjoy film, art, music, photography and poetry off the page celebrating Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, a Persian poet and Sufi master born in 1207.

AOT Project Salon is pleased to host POPLab‘s Rumi night. Their artistic endeavors engage written poetry with off-the-page mediums like video, visual arts, and spoken word.

Translations of his books have sold millions of copies in recent years, making him one of the most popular poets in the US. This party will include a reading by poet Sarah Sarai and a performance by singer/songwriter Miranda Inzunza. Also featured will be artwork by Alice Garik, John Neitzel, Luis Pagan and Josh Sachs. Those attending can also participate in an open mic to read or perform Rumi-related works. There will be a cash bar and cupcakes available, too.

POPLab has quite a worthy mission, including: To educate youth and underserved communities about poets and poetry as well as fiscally sponsoring poets, actors, and artists as well. More about POPLabs and the Rumi Poetry Party.
